We have been living and working in the district capital of Calheta de São Miguel, a small and largely non-touristy town on the east coast of Santiago, since 2003.
Throughout that time, we have continually explored the island. By devising a wide range of rambling routes, trekking tours and other excursions, we have opened up Santiago for ourselves and our customers.
You can now discover the beauty and the sights of ‘our’ island on foot or by car. You will find yourself swept along by the vitality and warmth of the people on this most African of Cape Verde’s islands.
See for yourself the captivating landscapes, fertile valleys and extraordinary mountain ranges; relax in the little seaside town of Calheta; and spend your evenings savouring the cuisine and the sea views with a glass of Fogo wine on our restaurant terrace – the perfect end to the day.
You can also drop by during the day to sample a wide-ranging vegetarian lunch menu and the freshest fish in the shade of the terrace, or try the national dish of cachupa before setting off for Tarrafal.
Then again, you might choose to fortify yourself with goat’s cheese, tomatoes and olives after a hiking expedition, before heading back to Praia.
Come to visit, and see for yourself ...
